The mission of the Grand Island Public Library Foundation is to enrich the Library’s services and to provide enhanced opportunities to discover and use information for an improved quality of life.

The Foundation, in collaboration with the Friends of the Library, directly support and supplement the work of the library through monetary gifts and volunteer assistance.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit incorporated in 1958.

The foundation welcomes gifts, bequests, grants, and property of any kind, for the use and benefit of the Grand Island Public Library.

For nearly 70 years, the Grand Island Public Library Foundation has met a variety of our library’s specific needs through:

  • Complete funding for library programs each year with the help from Annual Sponsor partnerships with area businesses and individuals
  • Capital Campaigns for Library improvements and renovations
  • Purchase of a Bookmobile for the community
  • Steward estate gifts for future library needs
  • Recruitment, screening and scheduling of library volunteers
  • Partnership with the Friends of the Library to provide the daily Book Sale for patrons
